In order to make archive records from the Homeland War available to scientists and public, the Croatian Memorial-Documentation Center of the Homeland War had launched series of documents collections The Republic of Croatia and the Homeland War -Documents. Records from the so-called Republic of Serbian Krajina, published in this two books, offer testimonies for the Serb armed rebellion in Croatia in 1990, and aggression of the armed forces of the SFRY (Yugoslav People’s Army, Serbian Territorial Defense, Montenegro and BiH) and Serbian paramilitary troops against the Republic of Croatia in 1991 and for the role and responsibility of the Yugoslav, both Serbian and Montenegrin leadership for the situation in Croatia at the beginning of the 1990s.
Documents of military provenance made by Yugoslav Army or rebelled Serb’s paramilitary troops in Croatia are published in the volume 1. Documents of para-state authorities, political parties and other civil institutions, made by rebels who wanted to amputate part of the Croatian territory in order to annex it to the Republic of Serbia, i.e. to the Greater Serbia are published in the volume 2.
These documents should bring historians and all interested parties to the better understanding of historical processes and the circumstances surrounding the making of the contemporary Croatian state. In this period, political leadership of Croatian Serbs provoked, with the support of Serbian politicians and the Yugoslav Army, their people to rebel against legally and democratically elected authorities in Croatia. By doing so, they had caused great suffering and damage to many Croatian citizens.
